Cleaning vs. Work

I’ve had a hard time getting my mind together at work lately. The truth is I’d much rather be reading blogs, but that’s obviously not an option (wink wink). Right after my lunch break I decided the only legitimate way to avoid doing real work would be to do something I loathe doing almost as much: clean.

You see, my office is “the messy one”. I think every office has at least one person who is a little bit of a slob, but sometimes I take that to a new extreme. Remeber the time I was intereviwed on TV and my desk looked like this.

But there’s an even messier place in my little workspace– the actual desk drawers. After much deliberation, I decided cleaning out my desk drawers would be less painful than doing real work. I am SO glad I made this choice because I’ve discovered that I’ve been hoarding the most fantastic assortment of randomness right here in my desk drawers. I’ve only gotten through one so far, but this is what I’ve found:

  • Flintstones Vitamins (only the purple ones left because I hate those)
  • A full bottle of Zantrex-3
  • 3 books I mooched about 6 months ago
  • 2 sticks of deodorant
  • A pair of socks
  • Leggings
  • My boss’ PDA (I thought I lost it. Surprise!)
  • My employee handbook
  • A box of candy from Valentines Day
  • A ThermaCare HeatWrap
  • 4 Collages made for me by the BFF
  • 2 McDonald’s Toys
  • Multi-purpose Car Cleaner
  • SPARKLERS

Why the F*CK were there sparklers in my desk? I love the randomness. And yes, I put them back in there– maybe I’ll use them on election night or something.

Anything random you’ve found in your desk lately?
