A little relief, finally.

Wow, the blogosphere has been eerily quiet this weekend. It’s kind of nice because my reader is a little on the high side, so it has given me a little bit of a chance to catch up on everything. I feel like my blogging mojo has been lost over the past few weeks, but I attribute it to everything that has been going on at work.

As I mentioned the other day, I gave an interview on the local news channel, but I never really told y’all what it was about–well, it was about only the most exciting thing that has ever happened in my whole county! Okay, so maybe that’s a little bit of an exaggeration, but all of the people in my office are hella excited about it and in about 2 years the rest of the county will be too.

Two years ago the cornerstone of our community burned down in the middle of the night. It was devastating and since then my bosses and I have been working to find a way to fund a rebuild. The building was insured, but it’s hard to insure a 100-year old building for the value that it will cost to replace it, so we had major obstacles to overcome.

Over the past few weeks it has been crunch time as we were collecting cost proposals for the newly designed structure. It was scary because this is how we would find out if we would be able to fund our desired building or just a partial piece of it… none of us knew how things were going to play out.

I’m also proud to say that because the proposals came in under bid we will get to include all the “green” alternatives. Not only is the building going to be an amazing addition to our community, but it will be environmentally friendly also! (wow, that sounded so cheesy. That’s the work side of me coming out)

So yes. Now I can finally let out a big sigh of relief and know that everything (at work at least) is going to be alright.
